The main headquarters of Casa Mediterráneo is located in Alicante, and will soon occupy the emblematic building of the old Benalúa station, situated near the Port of Alicante.
This institution, integrated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, was created with the aim of encouraging relations and giving cohesion to cultures and societies of the countries located on both sides of the Mediterranean, as a meeting point for Europe, Africa and Asia.
Casa Mediterráneo promotes social, cultural, politic, economic, scientific, educational and human rapprochement among the different societies, cultures and peoples of the Mediterranean region, having citizens as their main actors in all its activities.
Casa Mediterráneo attempts to give value to Mediterranean identity by bringing the reality of the coastal countries closer to Spanish public opinion, social agents, universities with their academicians and experts, businessmen and citizens in general, showing them the immense human, intellectual and artistic wealth we share in the Mediterranean.
OFFICE OF HARMONIZATION FOR THE INTERNAL MARKET (OHIM).
In 1993, Alicante was designated as a seat for the European Union Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market.
The Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market (OHIM) is the official office of trademarks, designs and models of the European Union, offering protection throughout the European Union, which has 27 member States and a population of about 500 million people. The Office also works in close collaboration with the national offices of industrial property of the EU member States.
The OHIM has a staff of approximately 700 employees, and an annual income of over 180 million Euros.
Alicante is also a seat for the European Court of Trademarks.
ALICANTE CONVENTION BUREAU.
A municipal office that has the objective of promoting the city of Alicante in the meetings market and supporting the organization of events, congresses and professional meetings, offering a constant assistance, ideas and logistic support.
ADDA: AUDITORIO DE LA DIPUTACIÓN DE ALICANTE (ALICANTE’S GOVERNMENT AUDITORIUM).
Alicante’s Government Auditorium (ADDA) is a multi-purpose building with a capacity to host concerts and musical events as well as congresses, conferences, receptions, presentations or professional meetings.
Within its 28,580 square meters, the Large Symphony Hall stands out, with a seating capacity of 1,225 spectators. Besides, it has annex halls, rehearsal rooms, exhibition halls, service rooms for artists, meeting rooms, a protocol room and a conference room.
A modern building that allows for the organization of congresses, conventions, symposiums, meetings, exhibitions and other events.
It has 11 halls with capacities ranging from 24 to 602 seats, as well as three large areas for the setting-up of exhibitions of up to 626 square meters each. It has state-of-the-art audiovisual media systems, simultaneous translation, electronic voting systems, wireless Internet access, etc.
