Located 9 kilometers southwest of the city, the International Airport of El Altet is one of the most important touristic and business destinations in Spain, ranking sixth among Spanish airports in number of passengers.
The airport operates with a total of 88 destinations, which are increased during summer holidays. Given the importance of tourism in the province, it is worth noting that 80% of all passengers correspond to international flights, mainly from countries of the European Union like United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Holland.
On the other hand, regular national traffic has been rising in the last years, with Madrid, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca as the most popular destinations.
With the aim of adapting its facilities to the rise in traffic, the airport has followed an infrastructure expansion and modernization process. So, since March 2011, the airport’s New Aerial Terminal is in operation, with a full capacity of up to 20 million passengers.
